VSP Celebrates 25 Years in Business: A Look Back – 2023 to Present

AI, Balance and Perspective
Economic Backdrop
The current period has been shaped by the rapid emergence of artificial intelligence, punctuated by the release of ChatGPT in November 2022. What began as a novel tool quickly became a catalyst, accelerating conversations about productivity, automation, and the future of work across nearly every industry. In a matter of months, AI moved from the periphery to the center of strategic thinking.
This technological shift unfolded against a backdrop of economic uncertainty. Rising interest rates, inflation concerns, and questions around a soft landing influenced decision-making, even as organizations explored how AI might fundamentally change how work gets done. The result has been a period defined by experimentation and restraint, with leaders balancing enthusiasm for new capabilities against the realities of cost, risk, and execution.
Inside the Recruiting Industry
Since 2023, the recruiting industry has been filled with constant conversation about leveraging AI for nearly every aspect of the process. From sourcing and outreach to screening and scheduling, new tools promise greater speed and efficiency, and adoption has moved quickly. As with prior technological shifts, access has widened and activity has increased.
At the same time, the fundamentals have not changed. While AI can assist with information and scale, it cannot replace judgment, context, or trust. In a market defined by complexity and competition, balancing new tools with an old-school, relationship-based approach has become imperative. The most effective outcomes continue to come from combining technology with experience, discretion, and long-standing relationships.
