Great CFO Knowledge Network (CFO KN) discussion yesterday in New Haven on “How CFOs Influence Strategy Without Slowing Growth.”

A few themes that stood out:
- Top grading the finance team is critical. CFOs need to be clear about what talent is required and communicate what they need to develop a high-performing organization.
- The best CFOs act as organizational quarterbacks, aligning teams on how strategy gets executed.
- Strong relationships across functions help prevent healthy tension from becoming toxic.
- In growth environments, leaders are often “flying the plane while building it.” Clarity on trade-offs between quality, cost, and time is critical.
